Equipment Operator
About the Role
Ensley is seeking to hire a FULL-TIME EQUIPMENT OPERATOR that is responsible for controlling the machinery used during the construction process. This individual is skilled in the use of bulldozers, excavators, rollers, trenchers, compactors, and other equipment.
Requirements
Responsibilities and Duties:
Highlight the day-to-day activities of the position and ensure list of responsibilities is detailed but concise
Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations
Clean, lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on equipment
Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on/off or loading/unloading it
Train new crew members in the safe operation of equipment
Perform other construction duties as needed
Observe the safe distribution of concrete and other materials
Promptly report all faults to the Supervisor or Foreman
Attend meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation
Identify faults and troubleshooting equipment as required
Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures
Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance
Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse
Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation
Qualifications and Skills:
1+ years' of experience working with heavy equipment
Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards
Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure
Ability to work to strict deadlines
A sound understanding of health and safety codes
A positive outlook and a willingness to learn
Strong work ethic
Education/Training Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent
Relevant license and safety certification
A completed apprenticeship would be advantageous
Certification/License Requirement:
Possession of a valid and clean Florida CDL or a willingness to obtain the license
