Equipment Operator

Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Highlight the day-to-day activities of the position and ensure list of responsibilities is detailed but concise

• Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations

• Clean, lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on equipment

• Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on/off or loading/unloading it

• Train new crew members in the safe operation of equipment

• Perform other construction duties as needed

• Observe the safe distribution of concrete and other materials

• Promptly report all faults to the Supervisor or Foreman

• Attend meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation

• Identify faults and troubleshooting equipment as required

• Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures

• Provide recommendations for maintaining and improving environmental performance

• Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse

• Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation

Qualifications and Skills:

• 1+ years' of experience working with heavy equipment

• Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards

• Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds

• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills

• Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure

• Ability to work to strict deadlines

• A sound understanding of health and safety codes

• A positive outlook and a willingness to learn

• Strong work ethic

Education/Training Requirement:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Relevant license and safety certification

• A completed apprenticeship would be advantageous

Certification/License Requirement:

• Possession of a valid and clean Florida CDL or a willingness to obtain the license
